Reset, Restart, Repeat presents projects from the 1st year of the Master in Communication Design
(Belas-Artes, ULisboa) that explore aesthetic and ethical implications of computational media and the
internet on contemporary communication.
The projects emphasize the need to reset values, restart processes, and repeat discussions on the cultural impacts
of computational media and social networks. They highlight the algorithmic reconfiguration of the image and how it promotes
voluntary and involuntary forms of invisibility. They creatively explore the confluence and transitions between print and
digital media, while examining the potential and vulnerabilities of digital media in the production and preservation of knowledge.
They reveal the volatility of knowledge under the impact of online disinformation and manipulation, evoking the modes of communication,
action and inaction that social networks promote. These projects address design practice and thinking in the post-digital and post-internet
era, reflecting on how computational technologies shape our perception and experience of reality.
